Rumours say that it was love at the first tone, when Simeon and the Alchemysts met first at a Terrastock festival in San Francisco. They jammed together and out of this friendship a CD developped. The songs where recorded at the end of 1998, and it took a long time unitl it was released. The Alchemists are the juvenile force of rock, Simeon the freaky master of oscillators. What comes out is psychedelic rock music. We really liked them at Terrastock 1999 in London.
A real power record to blow away your ears, a psychedelic storm. Better than ever and I alway liked them a lot. A very good mix of every tempo. They're getting more psychedelic in their evolution.
Over the years, The Alchemysts have developed into one of the UKs finest power trios. Their all too rare live outings have become better and better, which has resulted in hearty praise from such luminaries as Jello Biafra and Mark Arm. Zero Zen is their fourth album, and, as far as we're concerned, by far their best. The writing is strong, the playing is assured and the overall feel is one of Stooged-out psychedelia. Hard, wild and in your boat. If you like your feedback through an Orange Cab this one´s for you. Available on CD with full lyric booklet. CD; £11 plus postage.
This record is more a tough stuff, powerful garage sound. Different from the new album with Simeon. Psychedelic, trippy, fuzzed and distorted guitars.
